Deep Creek Lake State Park was once a logging and mining area, but it is now a beautiful environment for outdoor enthusiasts. The 1,800-acre park sits at the base of the Meadow Mountain in Western Maryland. The park offers breathtaking scenery, which you can explore along its nine trails via skis, snowmobile, and snowshoes during the cold months or by hiking in the warm months. There is a discovery center where you can learn more about the park and the areas surrounding it. Outside the park, you can wine, dine, and shop in the nearby cities of Swanton, McHenry, and Oakland, Maryland, and Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

Deep Creek Lake State Park Campground

The Deep Creek Lake State Park Campground has three sections, or loops, in which two of the loops are accommodable for your four-legged furry friends. You can enjoy the campground from mid-April to mid-December, as it closes when the winter weather becomes too harsh. The peak season is between May and mid-September — you will need to make a reservation during this period. Double G RV Park

Located four miles from Deep Creek Lake State Park, Double G RV Park has only 12 sites with electric hookups. From the campground, you will have easy access to Deep Creek Lake. You can rent a boat from the campground store for some fun on the lake. There are sites that are well shaded under tall trees in the campground, however are primarily reserved for seasonal campers. The remaining sites are more in the open and are usually rented out to weekenders and overnight visitors. You can bring your pet as long as you pick after it and keep it on a leash. Nightly rates start at $58.

Bumble Bee Campground

Bumble Bee Campground is only five miles from Deep Creek Lake State Park, which nestles it perfectly between Swallow Falls State Park and Deep Creek Lake State Park; This allows the opportunity to explore even more of Garrett County. How to Get to
Deep Creek Lake State Park

If you are in Pittsburgh, you can get to the park via I-79. Take route I-79 south and drive to I-68 East. Take Exit 4 to Route 219 and drive along the route for 18 miles. Take Glendale Road and drive for one mile until you cross the Glendale Bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn left and enter State Park Road, which you will drive for about a mile to the park. 

From Washington, D.C., take 270 north all the way to I-70 West. Then, take I-68 West. Take Exit 14A to Route 219 South Deep Creek Lake and drive along the route for 18 miles. Take Glendale Road, and drive for one mile until you cross the Glendale Bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn left and enter State Park Road and drive it for about a mile to the park.

The park is open all year-round, but the campground remains closed between December and April. You can get in between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day.
