Lovewell State Park covers 1,160 acres in northern Kansas and features an extensive shoreline on the Lovewell Reservoir. This reservoir was formed in 1957 when construction on the Lovewell Dam was completed. This reservoir draws water from the Republican River as well as a few creeks. Along with modern amenities, including a marina, an archery range and illuminated fish cleaning stations, the park is also home to a historic schoolhouse that is now used as a church.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Lovewell State Park
Lovewell State Park's campground is open year-round for tent and RV campers and is divided into five distinct areas: Willow, Cottonwood, Cedar Point, Walleye Point and Southwinds. Many of the improved sites feature shaded pads, pull-through parking, electricity hookups, and freeze-resistant sewer and water hookups. The maximum RV length is 50 feet. Campers have access to a year-round bathroom with showers and flush toilets, vault toilets, and dump stations. All campsites at Lovewell State Park have a picnic table and a fire pit, and some campsites are located directly on the shore or offer lake views.
What to Do at
Lovewell State Park
During your camping trip to Lovewell State Park, you can make great memories with your fellow travelers at the basketball court, the disc golf course and the sand volleyball court. An archery range with 14 targets is available near the Cottonwood camping area. With a swimming beach, a marina and two boat launches, enjoying time on the water is easy to do. Both hunting and fishing are permitted at the park as well.
Fishing
Lovewell State Park contains a 44-mile shoreline around Lovewell Reservoir, providing great opportunities to fish from shore. Two boat ramps are available with ample parking space for trailers, and fishermen can take advantage of a marina and two fishing cleaning stations. Anglers often catch catfish, crappie, white bass and walleye in the reservoir.
Nature Watching
The state park is home to larger and smaller mammals as well as numerous bird species. While enjoying the land and water, you could spot rabbits, squirrels, deer, quails, pheasants and turkeys. Other animals in the area include owls, eagles, prairie dogs, foxes, muskrats, bluebirds, mice and squirrels.
Stargazing
Lovewell State Park is located in a rural area more than 190 miles from Wichita and 229 miles from Kansas City. With minimal light pollution and many open areas to look up at the night sky without trees, you can enjoy amazing celestial views during your camping trip.
Boating
Boating is a popular activity on Lovewell Reservoir, which covers almost 3,000 acres and is 35 feet deep at its deepest point. The park has two boat launches for visitors to use, including one ramp with divided lanes. There is also a large marina in the park with a seasonal restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
How to Get to
Lovewell State Park
Lovewell State Park is near the rural community of Webber and south of the township of Superior. From Salina, travel north on Highway 81. Turn west on County Road 8. In Superior, turn south on Road 3600. This road transitions into Webber Road, Diamond Road and 250 Road as it winds across the countryside. Just before you reach Webber, turn left to continue south. This road leads you to the park's entrance. You can also reach Lovewell State Park from Mankato, which is a few miles southwest of the entrance. From Mankato, follow Highway 36 East for roughly a mile. Turn north on Country Road 15 and then east on Y Road. From Y Road, turn south on 250 Road. Follow this road to the park's entrance.
Entering Lovewell State Park
The office at Lovewell State Park is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the year except for Thanksgiving and the following Friday. From May through mid-September, the office is open on the weekends. Handicap-accessible parking spaces, restrooms, picnic areas and camping sites are available.

Lovewell State Park is open throughout the year. Weather conditions are most suitable for camping and lake activities between May and September. Hunting is popular in the fall.
Birds that nest in the area year-round or seasonally include bluebirds, eagles, owls, turkeys, pheasants and quail. In the lake, walleye, white bass, crappie and catfish are prevalent. The park is also home to mammals like squirrels, muskrats, mice, rabbits, deer, foxes and prairie dogs.
The camping spots at Lovewell State Park are available for both tents and RVs. Only one RV is permitted at each camping spot.
The campsites in the Cottonwood, Cedar Point, Willow and Walleye Point camping areas can be reserved in advance, and there is no cost to make a reservation. The nightly camping rate is $22.
Lovewell State Park welcomes visitors with pets. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 10 feet and in a camper or a crate. They are not allowed in the swimming area or park buildings.
