In the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Greenbrier State Park is a multi-use park that allows guests to try many outdoor activities. Swim in the lake, go canoeing, try boating or fishing. The visitor center is open year-round, and hiking trails wind through the park (including the Appalachian Trail).

Brunswick Family Campground
Brunswick Family Campground is in a secluded area between the Potomac River and the C&O Canal National Historical Park. Guests can camp in shady spots along the river and enjoy beautiful views of Short Hill Mountain and the Potomac, and watch for great blue herons and eagles.

Inside Greenbrier State Park
There are a number of things to do at Greenbrier State Park.
Hiking: Eleven miles of trails snake through a variety of habitats in the park, and allow hikers to get an idea of the area’s geologic history as well. Most of the trails are moderate to strenuous, so be ready for a workout! Part of the Appalachian Trail also goes through the park, so you can hike that as well.
Swimming: There is a swimming area of the lake, and lifeguards are on duty during the summer.
Boating: You can bring your own boat (electric trolling motors only) or rent a rowboat or paddleboat at the lake.
Fishing: The lake is stocked with trout, largemouth bass, and bluegill. Anglers 16 and older are required to have a state fishing license.
How to Get to
Greenbrier State Park
From the east: Take I-70 west to exit 35. Turn left onto Rt. 66. Go straight to the stoplight at the intersection of Rt. 40. Turn left onto Rt. 40 east. Follow for two miles and the park is on the right.
From the west: Take I-70 east to exit 35. Bear right onto Rt. 66 (follow signs). Go straight to the stoplight at the intersection of Rt. 40. Turn left onto Rt. 40 east. Follow for two miles and the park is on the right.

Memorial Day Weekend - Labor Day: $3 per person/weekdays; $5 per person/weekends and holidays
May and Sept Weekends: $3 per person
