- Indian Springs State Park
Open year-round to campers, Indian Springs State Park sits just outside Flovilla, GA, and within 60 miles of Macon and Atlanta. While Indian Springs was established officially as a state park over 90 years ago, this area around Chief McIntosh Lake has been a popular retreat since 1825. This former home of the Creek Indians has a rich history, both as a medicinal hub and as a resort area. The park itself was embellished by structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s as part of the recovery from the Great Depression. Indian Springs also features a museum on the park grounds covering pre- and post-treaty history. The park averages 38 inches of rain, 221 sunny days, and an inch of snow on average per year.

Inside Indian Springs State Park
With over 500 acres of forest, grass, and spring water, Indian Springs is an outdoor sanctuary. Trails for walking and cycling are readily available throughout the park, as is a boat ramp for Chief McIntosh Lake, where fishing is extremely popular. In addition to the standard features found at most parks, such as picnicking and playgrounds for smaller campers, the natural springs at the park are a unique attraction. These springs are historically very high in mineral content and believed to be medicinal by the Creek Indians who originally settled the area.
