Saddleback Butte State Park is an arid and expansive protected area located in Southern California near Lancaster and Edwards. Covering almost 3,000 acres of desert, Saddleback Butte State Park is a wonder of nature in almost every way. Created in 1960 as a means of preserving the area's Joshua trees, the park's ecosystem features many plants and animals that aren't commonly found elsewhere. Those Joshua trees, also known as yucca palms, are just one unique feature of the Saddleback Butte landscape. Spring is one of the best times to visit thanks to the warm temperatures and the ideal conditions for blooming flowers and baby animal spotting.

Saddleback Butte State Park has a large campground area that RVers can use while they come to visit. The park comes equipped with plenty of amenities like dump stations, showers, restrooms, and more, but the sites do not include electrical hookups. Camping will also let you be first in line for any of the events put on by park rangers while you're there. Pets are allowed provided they are kept on a leash and don't leave the camping area. Horses are the exception as you can ride them along certain trails. Rates start at $20 per night per space with reduced prices for elderly and disabled campers.

Antelope Valley Fair Association RV Park

While Antelope Valley Fair Association's RV park is set up to correspond with the aforementioned fair, it can be used year-round by all types of visitors. With the park's spots distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, you'll be able to enjoy full hookups, shower and bathroom facilities, great reception, and Wi-Fi as well as a convenient location in the heart of Lancaster to get you to all sorts of points of interest in no time at all. Each of the 62 sites is available for $30 per vehicle, per night.

Acton/Los Angeles North KOA

At the Acton/Los Angeles North KOA, you can enjoy all sorts of comforts and amenities while enjoying the surrounding Soledad Canyon natural area. Featuring full hookups, bath and shower facilities, a laundry, free Wi-Fi, a pool and hot tub, sports courts, a playground, and much more, this camp never gets old. You can even bring your pets, although some breed restrictions apply. Rates vary depending on availability and other factors with children age 4 and under staying for free.

There's plenty to do while visiting Saddleback Butte State Park as either a visitor or camper. Hiking is one of the most popular activities thanks to the long trails, flat ground, and low humidity during most of the year. You can even hike to the top of Butte Peak Trail, which is elevated above the entire Antelope Valley, for a great and unforgettable view. Horse riding is also quite fun in the vast open areas. If you're looking to visit Saddleback Butte State Park, the best way to do that would be to start in Lancaster, CA. It's one of the biggest cities near the park, and it gives you a good sense of distance and location as you travel. Starting from Lancaster, you'll want to find your way to West Avenue J. The most direct path is to take Fern Avenue to West Kildare Street before turning left on J, although there are three different roads in the city that can get you there if you'd prefer a different route. From there, it's about an 18-mile drive to the park.

You can get into Saddleback Butte State Park by following West Avenue J around 18 miles, turning right onto the dirt roads leading to the park once you see the entrance signs. The day-use areas of the park are open from 9:00 a.m. to sunset all year-round. Campgrounds are 24/7 for campers.
