The 14,000-acre Mount San Jacinto State Park is in Riverside County, California, just two hours from Los Angeles and San Diego. The park is part of the area set aside by William Henry Harrison in 1893 as the San Bernardino Forest Reserve. In 1928, the park was set aside and put under the control of the California State Park system, and it opened in 1937. As part of the San Jacinto mountain range, its tallest peak, the San Jacinto Peak, is 10,834 feet above sea level. The park consists of granite peaks, sub-alpine forests, high-country wilderness, and fern-bordered mountain meadows. It has two ranger stations located near Idyllwild and at the top of the tramway near Palm Springs.

Mount San Jacinto State Park Campground

Mount San Jacinto State Park allows RV camping within the park near the Idyllwild ranger station with a maximum length of 24 feet for trailers, campers, and motorhomes. The fee for time use of the campgrounds is $10. A campsite with electric hookup is $35 a night, and a full hookup is $45 a night. Additional vehicles are $10. The reservation fee is $7.99, and reservations can be made up to six months in advance. 

The Idyllwild campground is open year-round and has a total of 28 sites that includes tent, electric, full hookup, and ADA sites with a maximum of two vehicles and eight people each. The Stone Creek campground is open in the spring through the fall and has a total of 44 sites that include tent, electric, and ADA sites with a maximum of two vehicles and eight people. Both campgrounds offer picnic tables, fire rings or grills, water spigots, flush toilets, coin-operated showers, an amphitheater, and nature trails.

Reflection Lake RV Park & Family Campground

Reflection Lake is located in San Jacinto in Riverside County near Idyllwild and Palm Springs. The lake is fully stocked with catfish, so be sure to come prepared if you're an angler. Prizes are available for big catches. Reflection Lake RV Park & Family Campground also offers a basketball court, horseshoe pits, a playground, a swimming pool, and a communal picnic area. You can swim in the lake as well. Rates start at $50 a night.

Entering Mount San Jacinto State Park
