We had a very positive experience renting Stephan’s Van.Stephan provided a thorough orientation to the Van and we had an awesome time boondocking at a small private campground on the Oregon Coast.
Excellent communication , he even let us pick up the Van a few hours early.

We had a really lovely trip to the redwoods in the Gualala van! The van is well equipped with everything we need. If you have a sensitive back I would recommend bring an extra pad for the bed.

In fact we can provide an extra pad at no cost if our renters wish so! We understand that some folks like a softer, more cushioned bed than others, and we're happy to provide whatever padding our renters would want!
Reserve water tank did not work. Cooler is under bed so if you stay in one place for multiple nights and leave bed as is, it’s a pain to get to cooler. A lot of nuances with van that are not written down well in a manual because it’s a DIY build. Mattress, while a futon, is thin. Because it’s DIY, just keep in mind there’s lots of little things to remember because the owner hand crafted it.
I tried to connect with the renter multiple times when she had problems but could not since she was busy. The renter stated initially that the water worked and then stopped working - I had asked the renter several times if the water tank had water. The renter said yes but when I checked it at home it was empty.
We rented Gualala to visit friends in Oregon, chase hot springs in the mountains, and visit the redwoods, and the experience was outstanding.
The van, while older, is well-built and very functional.
