Queen Creek was incorporated in 1989, but it began in the early 20th century as a farming community named Rittenhouse that was built around a railroad stop. The town changed its name in the 1940s to Queen Creek, which takes its name from the Silver Queen Mine. Today, this Arizona town is considered to be part of the Phoenix Metro Area and is home to nearly 60,000 people.

When you’re visiting Tucson and Saguaro National Park, you’ll be conveniently close to Old Tucson, which is one of Arizona’s most interesting landmarks. This theme park was crafted from an old movie studio, so visitors get the sense they’re immersed in the Old West.
When you’re driving around Gilbert, you’ll see the Morrison Ranch Silos, which have become a symbol of the town. These enormous grain silos are all that remain of the original farm headquarters of the Morrison Ranch, so they’re important to the people of Gilbert.
Taliesin West is 45 minutes northwest of Queens Creek, so you can easily visit the winter residence of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright on your trip. You’ll be able to tour the house and grounds here; if you stop by at the right time, you’ll get to participate in a cultural program.
