    Start this trail at the restored log cabin at Red Hill Patrick Henry National Monument. This trail allows you to see the tobacco-curing barn and the ordering pit. It ends at the Enslaved & African American Cemetery.

  • Sharp Top Trail

    The Sharp Top Trail starts near the Peaks of the Otter Visitor Center. This trail ascends to a height of over 1,300 feet in elevation, and there are great views all along the way. This mountain was once thought to be the highest in Virginia, so you will definitely get a workout as you make your way up. The reward is the incredible views from the top.

  • Mount Pleasant Trail

    The Mount Pleasant Trail runs through George Washington National Forest’s Mount Pleasant National Scenic Area in Amherst County, Virginia. Start this hike by going through the right horse gate. This trail will bring you to a saddle near Pompey Mountain, and it uses the Henry Lanum Trail for most of its return route.

How To Get To Red Hill Patrick Henry National Memorial

If you are coming from Richmond, it is about a two-hour drive to Red Hill Patrick Henry National Memorial. Take Interstate 76 South to Virginia State Route 360. Head west, and turn on U.S. 15 towards Keysville. Turn right on Virginia State 40. Turn left onto Mount Calvary Road and left onto Patrick Henry Road. In about 8 miles, turn right onto Red Hill Road. Go approximately 1.5 miles, and you will see this location on your right.
