The NASCAR Fan Zone is a great place to spend some time before the race starts. There are interactive attractions, meet-and-greets with drivers and exclusive merchandise haulers. The concession stands at the Brickyard 400 offer several snacks and meal options. You can also purchase beverages or refill your water bottle at one of the track’s water refill stations. Indianapolis Motor Speedway offers ADA services, including accessible parking, seating and cart rental. LOCATION

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is located at 4790 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222. It is encircled by Interstate 465. Interstate 465 has four major arteries: I-65, I-70, I-69 and I-74. If you want to venture away from the track, be sure to check out Speedway Indoor Karting, which is one of the most popular go-karting attractions in the area. The Dallara IndyCar Factory is also a great option for fans of open-wheel racing. Several Brickyard 400s have been affected by rain in recent years, including each of the last two years. Being prepared for rain and weather delays is a good idea, especially if you are camping off-site.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway has multiple on-site campgrounds to choose from if you want to spend your weekend at the track. These locations allow everything from pop-up campers to Class A RVs. Where to Camp Near the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

In addition to on-site options, there are also plenty of nearby campgrounds, including: Kamp Indy is roughly 10 miles from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Kamp Indy offers a playground, a dog park, a laundry facility and more. Pets are welcome, and quiet hours are between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. Indianapolis KOA Holiday is about 20 miles from the track, but this campground offers plenty of amenities, including Wi-Fi, a dog park, a pool and bike rentals. Indy Lakes is about 15 miles from the track. This campground is designed for RVs of all sizes. It’s been a popular spot for race fans to camp since opening in 1951.

WHERE TO STAY

There are plenty of hotels to stay at if someone in your group prefers not to camp. They fill up fast, so make your reservations early. Some popular options include the Speedway Legacy Inn and Bottleworks Hotel.

HOW TO GET THERE

The track is easy to reach from several major Midwest cities. From Detroit: Take I-69 South. From Chicago: Take I-65 South. From Louisville: Take I-65 North. From Columbus: Take I-70 West.

PARKING

If you aren't camping at the Speedway and just need day parking for your RV, use Lot 9A, also called the Northwest Gravel Lot. This lot is designated for buses and oversized vehicles and is located on Georgetown Road near 25th Street. On July 26, outside parking lots open at 8 a.m. Arrive early so you have extra time to enter, park and get settled before the race. Each parking pass covers one vehicle.

TICKETS & PRICING

Indianapolis Motor Speedway offers General Admission tickets for $45. Reserved seating starts at $50. You can also consider Flex Admission, which starts at $60 per ticket. If you’re attending the race, consider spending an extra $20 to take part in the pre-race track walk, which gives you a chance to walk along one of the most historic tracks in all of motorsports. WRAP UP

The Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the biggest races on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule each year. 5-Day RV Itinerary for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

• Day 1: Arrive at your campground on Thursday, get your RV leveled and set up, and take care of basics like water, food, chairs and shade before the weekend gets busy. • Day 2: Start the morning at your campsite, then head to the track before gates open at 10 a.m. O’Reilly Auto Parts Series practice is scheduled for noon, followed by Cup Series practice at 1 p.m. After the track closes, return to your RV for dinner at the campground. • Day 3: Saturday is full of racing, so plan for a long day away from your campsite. O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and Cup Series qualifying run from noon until 2:30 p.m., followed by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Pennzoil 250 at 4 p.m. Pack water, sunscreen and weather gear before you leave your RV. • Day 4: It’s time for the Brickyard 400. Gates open at 10 a.m., the Drivers Brick Walk starts at 1:15 p.m. and the race begins at 2 p.m. Leave your campground early, bring what you need for heat or rain delays, and plan for heavy foot and vehicle traffic after the checkered flag. • Day 5: Load up your RV, clean your campsite and do a final walkaround before heading home. Check cabinets, hookups, leveling blocks and exterior storage before pulling out after a full NASCAR weekend.
