The Nantucket Wine and Food Festival has grown from humble beginnings to become one of New England’s premiere events. About 4,000 people flock to the festival each spring, and they are treated to gourmet food and superb wines from some of America’s most prominent chefs and prestigious restaurants and wineries. The primary venue for this year's event is Bartlett's Farm, but this is a movable feast that will also take place at the Nantucket Hotel and Resort, the Nantucket Inn, the Sconset Casino, and private residences.
The festival marks the beginning of the summer season in Nantucket, so you will have plenty to see and do if you attend. The beautiful island of Nantucket sits 30 miles off the coast of Massachusetts. It is known for its quaint cobbled streets, beautiful beaches, impressive historic buildings, and picturesque harbor. The festival has a casual, boutique atmosphere, and it provides the perfect way to kick off the season.
The Nantucket Wine and Food Festival offers a range of activities ranging from wine tasting to cooking demonstrations. Signature events include a gala welcome reception, wine tastings, and luncheons, and attendees will be able to sample French and American wines from 150 prestigious wineries. Some of the festival's most popular events are intimate wine tastings that take place in several of Nantucket’s most beautiful historic homes. Space is limited in these events, so it would be a good idea to book early.
If you want to hone your culinary skills and learn some new kitchen tricks, you will love the Nantucket Wine and Food Festival. Seminars from some of America’s most famous chefs will be held almost every day, and they will cover topics ranging from shucking oysters to matching wines with caviar. You will also be able to watch cooking demonstrations and taste some delicious food in the large culinary village tent.
The amenities at the festival will vary from venue to venue, but you probably won’t have to walk very far to find an ATM or a clean restroom. If you would like to learn more about lodging and dining options on Nantucket, you can visit an information booth operated by Nantucket Visitor Services at 25 Federal St. The booth is open year-round.

Nantucket is a small island located about 30 miles from Cape Cod, and you will have to travel by air or sea if you want to visit the festival. Adults can take a ferry for about $10, but you can expect to pay $100 or more if you want to bring a motor vehicle to Nantucket. Ferries to Nantucket depart from Hyannis, and they are operated by:

There is also an inter-island ferry connecting Nantucket with Martha's Vineyard.
If you want to fly to Nantucket, American Eagle, Cape Air, Delta, Jet Blue, and United Express all offer service to Nantucket Memorial Airport.
There are no RV parks on Nantucket, but that doesn’t mean you will have to leave your motorhome behind if you plan to attend the festival. There are many RV campgrounds located close to the ferries that will take you from the mainland to Nantucket, and they have excellent amenities. If you'd like to rent an RV, you can find multiple options, and some include delivery.
• If you want a true New England vacation experience, you can take a ferry to the Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground. The campground's wooded pull-through RV sites can accommodate motorhomes up to 38 feet long, and they all feature electric and sewer hookups. The campground is located just 1.5 miles from the ocean, and its amenities include showers, restrooms, and free Wi-Fi. Rates start at $83.70 per night, and they require a two-week minimum stay.
• If you would prefer to park your RV closer to the ferry terminal in Hyannis, Shady Knoll Campground could be a great choice. The campground offers both hookup and no-hookup RV sites starting at $60 per night, and it’s located just a short walk from the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Amenities include cable TV, Wi-Fi, hot showers, clean bathrooms, a well-stocked camp store, and a playground.
• If you like to stay in larger facilities that have more amenities, Maple Park Campground and RV Park offers 515 pull-through RV sites on 600 wooded acres. The sites feature sewer, water, and either 30-amp or 50-amp electric hookups, and each space has a fire pit and picnic table. Rates start at $63 per night, and the amenities include a swimming pool, an ice cream shack, an arcade, and a general store. You can even rent a boat or a golf cart.
Nantucket is one of New England’s most popular vacation destinations, so you will have plenty of lodging options to choose from if you attend the festival, but be sure to book your stay well in advance. The organizers recommend two hotels that offer exceptional service and are hosting some of the activities.
• The Nantucket Hotel & Resort is close to some of the island’s best art galleries and boutique shops. Many of the rooms and suites have ocean views, and guests have access to a health club, spa and outdoor hot tub.
• The Nantucket Inn offers resort amenities at reasonable rates, and it is the only hotel on the island with an indoor swimming pool. Other amenities include a fitness center, spa, and tennis court. The hotel has 100 comfortable rooms and suites, and it will be offering guests free shuttle bus service to festival events that are taking place elsewhere.
To reach the main festival venue from Nantucket Memorial Airport, head northeast toward Airport Access, and then take Old South Road, Lower Pleasant Street/Pleasant Street and Hummock Pond Road to Bartlett Farm Road (about 4.6 miles in all). Then continue on Bartlett Farm Road about 0.7 miles to the farm.
From the Steamship Authority Nantucket ferry terminal, head northwest on Steamboat Wharf toward Easy Street about 0.1 mile, and continue onto Broad Street for about the same distance. Turn right to take Ash Lane and Gay Street about 0.3 mile to Hussey Street. Turn right again to take Milk Street and Hummock Pond Road about 2.2 miles to Bartlett Farm Road, which is about 0.7 mile from the farm.
Most of the people who attend the Nantucket Wine and Food Festival each year arrive by ferry and on foot, so parking is rarely an issue. If you bring a vehicle to the island, you will find plenty of parking at the ferry terminal. Each ferry operator charges different rates, but you can expect to pay between $25 and $30 to park a vehicle during the festival.
Tickets for the events at the Nantucket Wine and Food Festival can be ordered online, and they cost between $175 and $450. Some of the events take place in private homes, so space will be limited.
