Lindenwood Campground

Lindenwood Campground in Lindenwood Park is on the Red River. There are lots of large shade trees at this campground. You can rent bikes to ride on the paved campground roads or rent a kayak to explore the river. Each site at this Fargo campground comes with water and electricity. The Red River is a great spot to go fishing. 

Red River Valley Fair Campground

If you plan on taking in an event at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, consider staying in the Red River Valley Fair Campground. Each site comes with full hookups and free Wi-Fi. There is a spacious bathhouse in the middle of the campground. Head to the south end of the campground to get on the fabulous city walking path. There are events at this West Fargo venue throughout the year. You can get from here to downtown Fargo in about seven minutes. 

General Sibley Park and Campground

It is less than four miles from the General Sibley Park and Campground to the Bismarck Expressway. Additionally, getting on South Washington Street gets you downtown in under 15 minutes. This park features a boat ramp, disc golf course, and large playground. Strategically placed around the park are historical interpretative panels teaching you more about the city’s history. Community groups often host events at the amphitheater. 

Bismarck KOA Journey

Families will especially love camping at Bismarck KOA Journey. There are many recreational opportunities, including a seasonal swimming pool, ladder golf, and corn hole toss. Rent every member of your family a bike so that you can go on a family bike ride. You will love playing tennis and basketball while younger family members will adore the two playgrounds. This campground is about five miles from downtown Bismarck. 

Hillcrest Acres Campground

Hillcrest Acres Campground is conveniently located right off North Bismarck Expressway, so it is convenient to get to top tourist attractions. Full hookups are available at this campground that offers daily and monthly rates. If you often bring your boat to this area, check out their indoor and outdoor boat storage facility. This campground is about five miles from downtown Bismarck. 

Roughrider Campground

Roughrider Campground is near many Minot tourist attractions, including the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, Scandinavian Heritage Park, and Dakota Territory Air Museum. You will appreciate the clean restrooms and showers. Each site comes with free Wi-Fi, and this campground has a playground, basketball court, and horseshoe pit. It is about five miles to downtown Minot. 

Valley View RV Park

Valley View RV Park in Minot is open from April through November. If you bring your dog camping with you, they will love the spacious dog park. Enjoy this campground’s beautiful scenery located under four miles from downtown Minot. Note that a minimum two-day stay is required at this campground. 

Where to Urban Camp in North Dakota

North Dakota’s larger cities, like Bismarck, Fargo, and Minot, make ideal places to go camping. You will love exploring Fargo because its location makes it easy to explore western Minnesota and eastern North Dakota. Minot has a very Americana vibe with the presence of Minot Air Force Base less than 25 miles away. Because it’s the state capital, you can find many landmarks and monuments in Bismarck, like the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum and the North Dakota State Capitol, a fascinating art deco wonder that architecture buffs love to visit. 

Urban RV Camping in North Dakota

North Dakota winters can be brutal. The snow often starts falling as early as late September, and it may not stop until April. If you plan on going camping during these months, be sure that your RV and tow vehicle have good tires. Check your tire pressure before starting. You will also want to check your transmission fluid and oil as things tend to break down in cold weather. Additionally, be sure that the campground that you have chosen is open in the winter.
