Urban Camping

Las Vegas is what most people think of when planning a trip to Nevada. Vegas is awesome, of course, and we absolutely recommend visiting. That said, there are other fun cities to visit, such as Reno and Henderson, and all of these cities offer amazing Nevada urban camping opportunities. This means you can enjoy the comfort of RV camping while still enjoying all that the cities of the Silver State have to offer.

Ready to plan a trip to try urban camping in Nevada? Here are our favorite spots to visit in an RV.

Urban RV Parks in Nevada

Sparks Marina RV Park

Sparks Marina RV Park in Sparks is less than 10 minutes away from Reno and has more than 200 sites that are just a short walk from the clubhouse. You can relax by the fire in the clubhouse or check out the calendar of events to find new activities on your trip. There is also a putting green that sits close to the pool and spa along with a dog run.

Wondering what to do while in Reno? We recommend the following:

Reno RV Park

The Reno RV Park in Reno is suitable for those looking for quiet urban camping Nevada spots. It has just 48 sites and provides all guests with full hookups and free internet, but you can also sign up for phone service if you stay longer. There is a gated dog run that keeps your pets safe and clean bathrooms that are close to a 24/7 laundry room.

More amazing things to do in Reno include:

Desert Sands RV Park

You can book a stay in the Desert Sands RV Park in Henderson and stay close to Las Vegas. As an adult-only RV park, it only allows guests to stay with kids for a maximum of two weeks. The park has a pool and hot tub with a large patio and BBQ area, along with a community room with games and a laundry room.

Not sure what to see and do in Henderson? We love the attractions listed below:

RV Park at Circus Circus

You can’t stay closer to the Las Vegas action than at the RV Park at Circus Circus on the Vegas Strip. Guests get access to a seasonal swimming pool and hot tub as well as a pet run and laundry room. It has an on-site playground for younger guests and gives you access to the Splash Zone and other amenities in the Circus Circus Hotel for a small daily fee.

There are so many amazing things to do in Vegas. Below, we’ve listed a handful of favorites:

Las Vegas KOA at Sam’s Town

When you stay at the Las Vegas KOA at Sam’s Town, you don’t need to go far to find your favorite table games and slot machines because it sits on the grounds of the casino. You can watch live shows and play games in the Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino or book a tour on the shuttle that moves around the city. When you book a full hookup RV spot, you get both cable and internet access.

Looking for more to do in Las Vegas? Try the following options:

Duck Creek RV Park & Resort

Duck Creek RV Park & Resort sits close to the border between Henderson and Las Vegas. You can choose from standard sites or premium sites that have more space and book for a day, week, or month. The resort has a heated and gated swimming pool, playground, multiple picnic spots with barbecue grills, and several dog runs and parks.

Where to Urban Camp in Nevada

  • Obviously, Las Vegas is a top pick. This city offers tons of things to see and do and plenty of RV camping options.
  • For a slightly more relaxed experience, consider visiting Reno. While this is a small city, it is home to lots of attractions.
  • Henderson is another great pick for those looking to explore lesser known parts of Nevada.
  • Lastly, we must mention Carson City. This city is lovely and a great place to escape for a few days of Nevada urban camping.

Ease of Urban RV Camping in Nevada

If you decide on Henderson or Las Vegas after looking at where to urban camp in Nevada, keep in mind that the cities welcome dozens of conventions every month. You may have a hard time reserving a spot in some of these campgrounds because of the conventions, so book well in advance.

Overall, navigating the state of Nevada in an RV is relatively easy. That said, there are some mountainous areas, and you may want to plan your route around especially steep grades. Additionally, the traffic in the big cities can be intense. This is especially true in Vegas. Make sure to plan for slow moving traffic any time you pass through a city and try to avoid driving through downtown city streets, as these tend to be jam-packed, and often cannot accommodate RVs.

With an RV rental, your urban vacation will be a little more comfortable! After you’ve spent a long day exploring the city, you can relax around the fire at your campsite. Then, retire inside to enjoy all the comforts of home onboard your RV. Plan your perfect urban getaway with an RV rental from RVshare.
