Mount Logan Summit takes travelers up to the Hell’s Hole overlook. This is a great spot for a sunset hike, providing views of the Grand Canyon, nearby forested areas, and wildlife.

Mount Logan Trail

This trail is a day-long excursion, taking travelers through miles of scenic serenity. Over an elevation gain of 4,000 feet, you will see views of wildlife and scenery for miles on end. Dogs are welcome on Mount Logan Trail if they are on a leash.

Mount Trumbull Summit Trail

This route takes hikers through difficult rocky terrain. This trail has areas that are hard to follow, making it a route more suitable for advanced hikers.

Fishing and BoatingFishing and Boating

Lakes of Short Creek is located north of the site and provides opportunities for fishing. The water here is a good source of trout and is suitable for fly fishing and conventional angling. There are no areas nearby that are suitable for motorized boating.

Mount Logan Wilderness Area is a perfect area to spend time viewing wildlife in its natural habitat. This site is home to wild turkey, deer and small rodents. Bird-watching is also common in this area. A wide variety of birds, including hawks, owls, and eagles call Mount Logan Wilderness Area home. When viewing wildlife, it is important to respect their natural habitat and keep a safe distance. Photographers can spend time viewing wildlife and snapping pictures of them during their stay.

Picnicking

During your trip to Mount Logan Wilderness Area, you may want to stop for a picnic lunch. Common areas and trails here can be used for picnicking. While there are no formal picnic tables at the site, scenic flat plains make great areas to lay down a picnic blanket for an impromptu meal. Be courteous to other visitors who may be passing through your area while you're picnicking.

Because of the variety of wildlife at Mount Logan Wilderness Area, hunting is a prime recreational activity for visitors. Deer and turkey hunting are most common. As always, be sure to come prepared with the proper licenses when hunting in the area. It is a good idea to pack hunter's orange clothing to wear to keep yourself visible to other hunters.

When spending time in public areas, RV owners can typically camp on BLM lands. Visitors cannot stay in areas marked “closed to camping.” There are no official RV spots at Mount Logan Wilderness Area. For those hoping to stay at an RV facility, RV camping is possible at Kaibab Paiute ROV Park and Campground. This RV Park is located north of Mount Logan Wilderness Area and is one of the few RV parks surrounding Mount Logan. This park allows pets and offers affordable rates.

Bureau of Land Management free camping is a great option to make your trip affordable. BLM-managed lands are open for free dispersed and primitive camping. At Mount Logan Wilderness Area, there are no available campsites or amenities for camping. However, visitors can find available areas for primitive camping to set up camp for the night. The BLM recommends staying at least 200 feet away from any bodies of water when choosing a spot to camp.

Planning your Mount Logan Wilderness Area BLM trip

If you are ready to take a trip to Mount Logan Wilderness Area, there are a few things to note before you visit. Mount Logan and the surrounding area are remote and unplugged. There is no cellphone service in the area, making contact with the outside world nearly impossible. Plan ahead with directions prior to your trip, and let a friend or family member know of your whereabouts in case of emergency.

Additionally, visitors will want to bring their own supply of water. Mount Logan Wilderness Area does not have any water supply, meaning that visitors will need their own water source for drinking. There is no official route to Mount Logan Wilderness Area. The best way to access the site is from Mount Trumbull Road. Past State Route 389, turn south onto Road 1044. The entrance and parking area for Mount Logan Wilderness Area are ahead.
