Visit Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Perhaps what attracts visitors to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway most are the regular races held at it from spring to fall every year. These racing events include practice rounds, qualifications, car shows, and more. Another great attraction of the Speedway is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, which is home to a world-renowned collection of racing vehicles and racing-related artifacts.

Tickets to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are available for individual events and may be purchased online through the Speedway’s official website. Prices vary by event and time of ticket purchase; however, most events offer reserved seats or general admission tickets. For reserved seat tickets, one ticket must be purchased for every seat to be reserved, regardless of the age of the ticket holder. With general admission, tickets are free for all children 15 and under so long as they are accompanied by an adult with a paid ticket. Visitors to the Speedway can also check out the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum with a separate museum admission ticket, which can be purchased on-site. Ticket prices to see the museum are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors aged 62 and up, $8 for youth ages 6 to 15, and free for children under age 5.

Family-Friendly Options

Families with children should be sure to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, which has exhibits on racing history and artifacts such as 1950s-era racing cars and a replica of the iconic trophy awarded every year to winners of the Indianapolis 500. Visitors to the museum may also reserve a spot on a racetrack tour in advance or join a tour during a specified tour time. For families, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum also offers free educational resources on its website that can be accessed before or after visiting the museum. These resources include lesson plans and fun worksheets that are available to download and use for free.

How to Make the Most of Your Visit

For the best experience at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, be sure to come to the track on an event day. Before the event begins, check out the museum, and give yourself at least an hour to tour the building before heading inside to see the scheduled racing event. If you decide to camp at the Speedway, be sure to head back to the museum on a day that the track is open so that you can also take a guided tour of the track.
