Harrington Beach State Park features a spectacular limestone quarry lake, a white cedar and hardwood swamp area, and an old field grassland with restored wetland ponds. This 715-acre park has one of the finest sandy beaches along Lake Michigan. In 1966, the area was selected as a state park and was named after Cornelius Harrington, a superintendent of Wisconsin, who worked on early public policy for forest recreation. The park offers an observatory and astronomy program that teaches a variety of astronomical studies of the area. With the diverse habitat this park offers, you can expect to see many different wildlife species such as whitetail deer, squirrels, and more; it also boasts over 200 bird species. Cities located near the park are Belgium, Grafton, and Port Washington.

Lazy Days Campground
Lazy Days Campground offers tent and RV sites with some having sewer, water, and electrical hookups. The campground has its very own sandy beach with open swimming opportunities. Pine Ridge Campground
Pine Ridge Campground is open year-round and has tent and trailer camping sites with electric and water hookups. All sites are equipped with campfire grates and picnic tables. There are 70 acres of land and a lake for swimming, fishing, and canoeing. Pets are welcome. Some of the campground amenities include an archery range, disc golf, and a playground.
Hilly Haven Campground
Hilly Haven Campground offers a family-friendly camping experience right along Lake Ellen. Each site provides electric and water hookups and plenty of room for RVs up to 40 feet long, with some offering sewer hookups. This pet-friendly campground has a dog park, but your pet must remain leashed. The campground provides its campers with a heated swimming pool, fishing and boat dock, laundry facilities, and children's play areas.

Inside Harrington Beach State Park
Harrington Beach State Park features a 1-mile-long sandy beach where visitors can play volleyball, build a sandcastle, swim in Lake Michigan, or relax and soak up the rays. You can take a relaxing walk on the nature trail that stretches about a half-mile one way between the camping area and the sandy beach. You'll walk under a blanket of oak and maple trees with covered greenery under the woodlands in some areas of the trail. Birdwatching, wildlife observation, and fishing are a few more activities to do inside the park. Sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing are popular during the winter months.
Outside Harrington Beach State Park
You'll find a large selection of pubs, bars, diners, and other restaurants within a short distance from the state park. Coming from Interstate-43, you'll want to take exit 107 toward Lake Church. Follow County Road D for less than 1 mile, and then make a right. Follow signs to the state park.

Harrington Beach State Park is open year-round. Late spring or early summer is the best time to hit the beaches. The north beach offers the best sunbathing; however, the water quality deteriorates in the hot summer months.
The park is a wildlife refuge, and visitors can see whitetail deer and other animals in the mornings and evenings. Birders flock to the park for the annual hawk migration. Ducks visit during their spring and fall migrations.
Harrington Beach State Park has a 69-unit family campground, and 31 sites have electric hookups. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. A trailer dump station and water fill-up station are available.
Yes, reservations are required for a camping spot at the park. The reservation fee is $7.95. The cancellation and change fee is $5. You can make reservations up to 11 months in advance.
Pets are welcome at Harrington Beach State Park, but they must be on a leash no longer than eight feet. Pets are allowed on trails, in the campground, and in other posted areas.
