At Red Fleet State Park in eastern Utah, you can see dinosaur tracks believed to be over 200 million years old. While the Dinosaur Trackways Trail may be popular, Red Fleet Reservoir attracts just as many adventure seekers. You can spend the day playing on the water with kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and canoes. The park is home to annual events such as PaddleFest, which is aimed toward beginning paddlers, and the Dino-Triathlon endurance race. Red Fleet State Park is located about 15 miles north of Vernal, 30 miles northwest of the entrance to Dinosaur National Monument, and about 70 miles northeast of Duchesne.

Red Fleet State Park

Inside Red Fleet State Park

Many come to Red Fleet State Park to see the dinosaur tracks, but you can do so much more. Often called a miniature Lake Powell, Red Fleet Reservoir is an ideal spot for water recreation. You can rent kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, and more in the park. Depending on the season and conditions, anglers regularly catch their limit of 10 different species of fish that live in the reservoir. While you're camping and hiking, keep an eye out for petroglyphs.

Red Fleet State Park

If you're following Interstate 40, then it is easy to reach this state park. Exit Interstate 40 and get on U.S. 191. Follow the signs for U.S. 191 through Vernal until you reach Donkey Flat Road. Turn left onto Donkey Flat Road and go until you get to the park.
