Eight miles from Wildersville, TN, the park was named for the Natchez Trace wilderness trails used in the 18th and 19th centuries as Native American trade and animal migration routes. This beautiful hardwood and pine forested park has everything an RVer could want, including hiking, swimming, boating, nature watching, and horseback riding. It also offers numerous amenities, like an archery range and playgrounds. There is even a museum explaining the history of the park and a restaurant dishing up southern fare.

Natchez Trace State Park

Natchez Trace State Park is full of activities that include hiking, swimming, boating, and 250 miles of horseback riding trails. Inside Natchez Trace State Park

The 58-acre Cub Lake is one of the most popular spots at Natchez Trace State Park, and you can head there for activities such as swimming and fishing. You can also find a public beach and rentals on Jon-boats or paddle boats near the lake. If you happen to be a fan of horseback riding, the southern end of the recreation area hosts an expansive 250 miles of riding trails you can use at your leisure. Pin Oak Lake, the largest lake at the state park, covers 690 acres and is open to the public for water skiing, boating, and more. The Pin Oak Lodge is located just to the side, featuring a general store that stays stocked with the necessities and a swimming pool.

Fishing is excellent on Brown, Maple, and Pin Oak Lake. Brown Lake is stocked with a specific strain of bass to produce trophy-sized largemouth bass. Maple Lake provides great catfish, bluegill, and sunfish fishing. Pin Oak Lake has bass, catfish, and bluegill.

The Natchez Trace State Park is mostly pine and hardwood forest. The hardwood trees change colors in late October, turning brilliant red and orange. Wildflowers, including blue violets, Carolina jessamines, and spiderwort, grow throughout the park. Deer foxes, coyotes, skunks, and armadillos are common sights, and you might spot salamanders, toads, skinks, and snakes. The park has over 23 miles of hiking trails that take you to locations where you can enjoy various aspects of nature. For example, the Cub Lake Trail includes lakeside views and marsh and shrub wetlands. The Red Leaves Trail goes through forested uplands. The trails are rated from easy walking to moderate or strenuous hiking.

Boating

The park has four lakes. Two public boat launch ramps on Pin Oak Lake accommodate fishing boats, pontoon boats, ski boats, and wave runners. This is the only lake that allows water skiing. You can rent a paddleboat or kayak at the Lodge. Pedal boat and canoe rentals are available at Cub Creek Lake, and fishing boats can be rented at Maple's Creek Lake.

There is a public swimming beach at Cub Lake. The swimming beach at the Pin Oak Campground is for campers only.

Biking

There are more than 50 miles of multi-use trails. These trails are gravel or dirt and are open for biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicle use.

How to Get to
Natchez Trace State Park

From Columbiana, TN, take TN-7 N/N James Campbell Blvd for 29 miles and continue onto TN-46 W. Turn right to merge onto I-40 toward Memphis. In 56 miles, take exit 116 for TN-114 toward Natchez Trace State Park. In .2 miles, turn left onto TN-114 S. Continue straight onto Parsons Road for 79 feet. Take a slight right onto Corinth Road, and in 1.4 miles, you will turn right onto Sheep Wallow Ridge Road. The park entrance is 1.1 miles on the right.
