Sica Hollow State Park has a vibrant history, from Sioux legends of reddish bogs, which the tribe views as the flesh and blood of ancestors, to Bigfoot sightings. Coteau des Prairies, a plateau formed by retreating glaciers, and the remaining deltas of the former glacial River Warren are within the state park and are national natural landmarks. The park's activities include biking, bird-watching, geocaching, horseback riding, walking, and picnicking. Nicollet Tower and Interpretive Center and the Andrew and Mary Stavig House are a short commute from the park.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Sica Hollow State Park
The Sica Hollow State Park Campground offers eight camping spots for tents or RVs. The park doesn’t provide electrical, sewage, or water hookups or offer visitors Wi-Fi. There are restrooms and picnic tables at the campground.

Nature Watching
Guests can find over 400 bird species at Sica Hollow, and there are 38 sites with terrific vantage points. You’ll see scarlet tanagers, purple finches, warblers, vireos, woodpeckers, bald eagles, golden eagles, ferruginous hawks, green-winged teal, Northern pintail, and rose-breasted grosbeak.
Flora and Fauna
The flowers and plants at the park include oak basswood, common yarrow, round-leaf thimbleweed, prairie sagewart, dwarf milkweed, green comet milkweed, spinystar cactus, and field chickweed. Wildlife you’ll see along the trails in the forest include deer, squirrels, prairie dogs, opossums, rabbits, raccoons, chipmunk, antelope, mountain goats, weasels, bison, otters, bighorn sheep, foxes, bats, and porcupines.
Hiking
The Sica Hollow Horse Trail is the only trail at the park, and it spans 5.2 miles. You can hike the trail or horseback ride and see impressive park views. The trail is rated as moderate.
Biking
The park has many dirt paths throughout the forest where you can mountain bike. Pay close attention to posted signs for hazards and potential risks.
How to Get to
Sica Hollow State Park
From the town of Sisseton, head east on Oak Street East toward 1st Avenue East. Take 455th Avenue to 112th Street in Bossoko Township. Turn right onto 119th Street/Hickory Street East. At the traffic circle, continue straight onto SD-10 West. Turn right onto 455th Avenue. Continue on 112th Street Drive to County Hwy 10. Turn left onto 112th Street, and then turn left onto 450th Avenue. Continue onto County Road 12/Indian Route 10. Continue onto County Hwy 10 until you see the park entrance on the left. The address is 44950 Park Road, Sisseton, SD 57260.
Entering Sica Hollow State Park
Enter the park through the main entrance after paying your entry fee at the self-service kiosk. Park your vehicle in the parking area, and then enter the park on foot. You’ll find ADA-accessible parking in the main parking area. You must keep all motorized vehicles on hard-surface roads only. You cannot horseback ride within the Trail of Spirits region of the park, and you need permission to hike or travel on lands beyond the park property lines. If you're staying overnight, the maximum RV length is 40 feet. Sica Hollow State Park is open 24 hours a day, but the park office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
