Buttermilk Falls State Park RV & Campground Guide

New York

Buttermilk Falls State Park

is named for the cascades made as Buttermilk Creek rushes down the valley to its ultimate destination at Cayuga Lake. The park has a lake, hiking trails that wander through the woods and along the gorge, picnic areas, and playing fields. Larch Meadows is nearby – a wetland with a nature trail through it for visitors to explore.

The weather in this area of New York is mild, only getting into the low 80s in the summer. Winter lows can drop into the teens, however, with plenty of snow! New York can also be humid, so even if the temperature isn’t high, it can still be uncomfortable. The park gets between 7-10 days of precipitation each month, which explains the vast greenery you see in every direction!
