Ausable Point Campground is in Peru, New York, which extends along Lake Champlain. In 1966, the campground opened to the public, and it is across the lake from Valcour Island, which is where the first major sea battle of the American Revolution was fought. Ausable Point Campground is 70 miles from Montreal, Canada, and 45 minutes from the Olympic Village of Lake Placid. Ausable Point Campground
The directions to this state park are straightforward. When coming from Interstate 87 (Exit 35), you will need to continue on 442. After 2.5 miles, you will make a left on to Route 9. After a half-mile, you will see the park’s entrance on the right.
