This state park is located in eastern Minnesota, and the state's St. Croix and Kettle Rivers run through it. The St. Croix River, a National Scenic Riverway, forms the state's eastern border with Wisconsin. In addition to sightseeing and nature watching throughout the park, you can also go hiking and fishing. Furthermore, it's a fantastic place to see local wildlife, such as bobcats, foxes, raccoons, deer and even black bears.

RV Resorts & Campsites in St. Croix State Park
There are three campgrounds in St. Croix State Park, including Old Logging Trail, Paint Rock Springs and Riverview Campgrounds. At Riverview, there are 42 electric sites with plenty of shade as well as a multipurpose building that contains showers, restrooms and a cooking shelter. Old Logging Trail Campground has 20 electric sites and a shower and restroom building. There are nine electric sites at Paint Rock Springs Campground along with showers and modern restrooms. It is also near a playground. Riverview Campground can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet in length while Old Logging Trail and Painted Rock Springs Campgrounds are better suited for pop-ups and smaller RVs.
What to Do at
St. Croix State Park
St. Croix State Park offers a wide range of outdoor activities throughout the year. If you're going to the park in the summer, you can mountain bike on the park's 5.5 miles of paved paths and hike on its 127 miles of trails that wind along the river. If you choose to visit the park in the winter, you can go cross-country skiing on 11 miles of easy trails that pass through the forest and by the river, snowshoeing anywhere in the park. Many visitors also enjoy snowmobiling on the park's 80 miles of trails.
Fishing
The St. Croix River is one of the best spots for fishing in eastern Minnesota. You may be able to catch northern pike, suckers, catfish and lake sturgeon.
Nature Watching
The river plays a vital role in sustaining local wildlife. In fact, it's common to see animals getting a drink from it, which makes its banks a great spot to see local wildlife. Several streams, lakes and marshes can also be found in the park.
Stargazing
Since the park is located in fairly remote terrain, there are low levels of light pollution. This means that the park features exceptionally dark skies.
Flora and Fauna
The park contains forested areas with basswood, sugar maple, black spruce and pine trees. There are also open areas, such as oak savannas, meadows and jack pine barrens. Due to the park's remote location, you'll have a great chance to see foxes, raccoons, beavers, bobcats, deer, black bears and even moose.
Hiking
You can hike the park's over 100 miles of trails during the summer months, and in the winter, the almost 100 miles of winter trails are great for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. You can also hike to the park's fire tower and climb it. Furthermore, there are 1.5 miles of handicap-accessible hiking trails within the park.
Boating
The St. Croix River is a popular destination for kayaking and canoeing. In addition, gas-powered boats are permitted on the river.
Swimming
During the summer, the river is a great destination for swimming and wading.
Biking
You can go mountain biking on the park's 5.5 miles of biking trails. The terrain is relatively flat, which makes the area an ideal spot for beginners.
How to Get to
St. Croix State Park
If you're coming from Minneapolis, get on I-35 WN. Then get on the ramp for I-35 N until you reach Minnesota Route 48. Take this road to County Highway 22. Then make a right onto State Park Road 18 until you reach State Park Road 15. Get on State Park Road 19 after this to reach the park entrance. If you're coming from Duluth, take I-35 South until you reach the exit for Minnesota Route 48. Take this road until you reach County Highway 22. Make a right onto State Park Road 15, which will lead you to State Park Road 18. Then get on State Park Road 19 to reach the park entrance.
Entering St. Croix State Park
The park is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. Besides the three campgrounds and a main parking area, there's also a horse campground.
