The Glacial Lakes State Park provides serene vistas of lakes and rolling prairie hills in central Minnesota. The park's largest lake is Signalness, which boasts 1.42 miles of shoreline and 56 acres of water area, but there are also several smaller lakes and ponds in the south of the park. The nearest cities are Starbuck, just a 10-minute drive up the road, and Glenwood, which is about 18 minutes away by car. Many people reserve their outdoor adventuring for the warmer months, but Glacial Lakes State Park really shines in the winter. For one thing, Signalness Lake offers fantastic ice fishing opportunities. You can catch bass, perch, northern pike, crappies, walleye, and sunfish, and the park is also a great place to snowshoe.
If you're visiting during the summer, you'll want to take advantage of the five-mile paved trail that winds through the park and connects it to Starbuck. You can also rent a canoe, kayak, rowboat, or stand-up paddleboard if you want to get up close and personal with the lake. During your stay, you can hope to catch glimpses of native wildlife like cougars, timber wolves, bats, elk, Canada lynx, bison, voles, lemmings, shrews, weasels, and beavers. Birders should watch out for bald eagles, loons, cranes, falcons, grouse, hawks, pheasants, woodcocks, and swans.

To reach the park from Starbuck, just head south on Main Street and keep going once the road turns into County Highway 41. The park will be on your left after 5.7 miles.
