Wyoming

Seminoe State Park

is a public recreation area at the foot of the Seminoe Mountains that features unique opportunities for outdoor recreation. It also offers access to the Seminoe Dam, a scenic thick-arch dam on the North Platte River, and the Seminoe Reservoir. The Seminoe Reservoir was constructed in the 1930s, and the state park was eventually established through an agreement between the state and the United States Bureau of Reclamation in 1965. It is located in Carbon County, Wyoming, and two of the closest cities include Casper and Douglas. The recreation area offers access to a variety of exciting activities, some of the most popular being swimming, hiking, fishing, and wildlife spotting. The name "Seminoe" is based on Basil Cimineau Lajeunesse, a French trapper who was a significant figure in the area in the 1800s.
