Glendo State Park is located in the town of Glendo, about 20 miles southeast of the city of Douglas, in Wyoming. Covering an area measuring 22,000 acres, the state park surrounds Glendo Reservoir on the North Platte River, making it a recreational paradise for boaters, fishermen and water-sport enthusiasts. It is also well known for its camping opportunities, offering 21 different campgrounds with a total of 568 campsites for both tents and RVs. Visitors can enjoy a variety of stunning landscapes too, including mountain settings, sandy beach, and pine-filled forests. These areas are also home to many species of wildlife, including mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope, coyotes, turkeys, and a variety of bird species.
Like most areas of Wyoming, Glendo State Park experiences dramatic variations in seasonal temperatures. While visitors can expect maximum temperatures of 89°F in summer, winter can experience lows of just 6°F, meaning you’ll need to come prepared. Glendo Lakeside RV Park
Glendo Lakeside RV Park is quiet, relaxing, and “Big Rig” friendly, plus it’s just a 10-minute drive from the state park. As the name suggests, the park has a beautiful lakeside setting on the Glendo Reservoir. Nightly rates are between $30 - $40 per site.

Prairie View Campgrounds
Prairie View Campgrounds is based in Lusk, around a 55-minute drive from the state park, but is set on a rolling prairie that experiences some of the best sunsets you’ll see. Full hookups are available, along with easy pull-thru sites that can accommodate any length of rig.

What to Do at
Glendo State Park
Inside Glendo State Park
Glendo State Park might be very popular for camping, but people also flock here because of the wide range of fun outdoor activities on offer. Whether you’re hoping to enjoy hiking the park’s scenic trails, swimming, fishing, boating, winter sports, or more – there’s certainly something for every type of traveler.
Hiking : Glendo has 45+ miles of hiking trails, including four trail heads: Dam Overlook, Two Moon, Wetlands and Sandy Beach. These are open year-round.
Swimming : Shelter Point area and Sandy Beach have areas that are no wake zone areas, providing safer swimming opportunities for visitors. Sandy Beach is the most popular swimming destination, as it features 1.5 miles of stunning beach shoreline.
Fishing : Glendo is one of the prime walleye fisheries within the state. It also serves as one of the locations of some of the largest fishing tournaments in the State of Wyoming. A valid Wyoming Fishing License required to fish and anglers can expect to catch species such as walleye, perch, bass, catfish, crappie, and more.
Boating : There’s roughly 12,000 surface acres of water for boating, including both motorized and non-motorized boats. Six public boat ramps and five courtesy docks are available throughout the park at Elkhorn, Bennett Hill, Reno Cove, Whiskey Gulch, Marina, and Indian Point. A watercraft launch area for floating the river south of the park is also available.
Winter sports : Ice fishing is one of the primary winter sports, however Fat Biking is gaining in popularity. While trails are available for activities such as cross-country skiing, show shoeing, and more, the region’s typically mild winters can create unfavorable conditions for them.

Glendo State Park
The state park is 106 miles north from the city of Cheyenne and 82 miles south-east from the city of Casper. From Cheyenne: Follow I-25 N to Exit 111. From Casper: Follow I-25 S to Exit 111.
Entering Glendo State Park
The park is open daily for day use from 6AM-10PM. There is an entrance fee of $4 (resident) or $6 (non-resident) per vehicle.
