Rocky Arbor State Park RV & Campground Guide

Wisconsin

The 244 acres that make up Rocky Arbor State Park were set aside in 1932 by the Wisconsin legislature to preserve the sandstone outcrops eroded into picturesque ledges and walls by the Wisconsin River before it changed course. Despite its small size, the park delivers an extra bit of amazement for visitors traveling from far-flung states with views they will not see elsewhere. Located just 55 miles north of Madison, WI, and about halfway between Milwaukee and Eau Claire, WI, the park is a haven for those seeking a moist, cool location to camp before moving to other campgrounds in the state. Greeted with views of exposed layers of rock, hikers are surrounded by the moss and lichen that find an ideal environment to take root and grow. Wildflowers cover the area, stretching their necks, seeking the patches of sun that glance through the thick canopy of trees. This is a peaceful place where children's laughter echoes across rocky surfaces to dance among tree trunks, beckoning all who seek comfort.
