Twin Lakes sits in the central part of Virginia, providing many cultural and lakefront activities for RV vacationers, water enthusiasts, and outdoorsmen. The land was purchased from struggling farmers during the Great Depression by the federal government; it eventually became two parks — Goodwin Lake Recreational Area and Prince Edward Lake — in 1939. The two lake parks merged in 1976, and then about 10 years later, the area was renamed Twin Lakes State Park. This 548-acre historic park now has two beautiful lakes, a hardwood forest, and plenty of acres to explore. The beach area has an environmental education center where visitors can learn and be part of its hands-on nature program. Three cities nearby are Green Bay, Crewe, and Farmville, Virginia.

Amelia Family Campground
Amelia Family Campground features 80 large wooded campsites with some offering water, electric, and sewer hookup options. This pet-friendly campground offers a pet run area, a fishing pond, and a swimming pool for those hot summer days. All sites are near hot showers, restrooms, a laundry facility, and a camp store. Amenities included are a dump station, a playground, and an outdoor recreation area.
Cozy Acres Campground
Cozy Acres Campground features pull-through campsites with full hookup access that fits your RV size, including big rig waterfront sites with a patio. The camp has beach volleyball, horseshoe pits, a large indoor clubhouse, hiking trails, and a game room. There is also a fenced kiddie pool area and swimming pool for the whole family. The campground has a dump station, propane refill service, and a camper repair service; plus, there are indoor and outdoor RV storage opportunities.
Paradise Lake Family Campground
The Paradise Lake Family Campground features both full and partial hookup sites near restrooms and showers. The lake is equipped with a boat dock for recreational boating or fishing and a designated swimming area with a sandy beach. A gate code is necessary after hours to enter the campground.

Twin Lakes State Park offers six miles of hiking trails that take you through the forest and along the lakes. There is also an eight-mile, point-to-point multi-use trail adjacent to Prince Edward-Gallion State Forest that is open to horseback riders, bikers, and hikers. The state park's lakes are ideal for catching channel catfish, largemouth bass, crappie, and sunfish. Goodwin Lake offers a designated swimming area for unguarded swimming opportunities year-round. Other activities visitors enjoy inside the park are camping, picnicking, skiing, and ice skating.
How to Get to
Twin Lakes State Park
If you're traveling from Green Bay, you'll want to head south on Green Bay Road toward US-360 East. Make a left onto US-360 East, and follow it for 4.3 miles. Next, you'll want to make a left onto Grape Lawn Road and go about one mile. Finally, make another left onto CO Road 629 (Twin Lakes Road).
