Powhatan State Park is located in the northern section of the city of Powhatan along a bend in the James River. It is also west of Richmond, so reaching the state park will be fairly straightforward. Powhatan State Park is a great place to start a trip in a canoe down the river. Nearby, there are also vineyards and orchards where you can enjoy exploring the property with your family. Nearby, you can find the cities of Richmond and Columbia.

Cozy Acres Campground
Cozy Acres Campground is another family-owned and operated campsite, and it has been operating since 1972. Full hookup sites start at about $51 a night, and there are waterfront sites that cost more but offer a fantastic view. They even have a clubhouse where families can gather and have birthday parties and more.

Powhatan State Park
Inside Powhatan State Park
In Powhatan State Park, there are more than 12 miles of hiking trails and 9 miles of equestrian trails to explore. Coyote Run is a little more than two miles, and it is a great experience for more seasoned hikers. There is also a River Trail, a Gold Dust Trail, and a Turkey Trail that are better for families with kids to hike. You can take a boat along the James River, which connects to the park for 2.5 miles and enjoy some of the best fishing in the area.
How to Get to
Powhatan State Park
From Richmond: Take I-95 N for about three minutes until you reach I-64 W. Follow I-64 W for about 20 miles, then take exit 167 towards Oilville/Goochland. Turn left onto State Route 617, then turn right onto US-250 W. Turn left on State Route 632, and in 3.5 miles, turn left again onto State Route 634. Continue straight onto US-522 S, and then turn right onto State Route 617. Turn right onto Powhatan State Park Road, and the park entrance will be right in front of you.
