Camp Plymouth State Park RV & Campground Guide

Vermont

Camp Plymouth State Park is southern Vermont's most visited public-operated recreation venue. The 295-acre park sits on the eastern shore of 96-acre Echo Lake, offering a 3,300-foot shoreline. It is bordered on the north mostly by Buffalo Brook, which turns abruptly to run through the center of the property before dumping into Echo Lake. Visitors to the park find the environment much changed from that the original pioneers experienced while pressing west from the Atlantic coastline. Wanderers found good hunting and a path through the mountains to the lands through this area. Many rushed past the place before tasting its bounty. But the farmers that followed discovered fertile lands and an incredible sky. In the 1850s, gold was discovered along Buffalo Brook, and a brief economic boom occurred. But it quickly dissipated away, and the steadiness of farm life returned. Eventually, the Boy Scouts of America procured the area where the park lies today and named it Camp Plymouth, which gave the current park its name.
