Snow Canyon State Park is tucked into the southwest corner of Utah, right nearby the relatively large city of St. George. Along with its namesake canyon, you’ll also get to experience extinct cinder cones, lava tubes, lava flows, and sand dunes when you visit.

Snow Canyon State Park features a scenic on-site campground with dramatic vistas of red Navajo sandstone overlayed by black lava rock. It offers 14 RV-friendly sites with water and electric hookups, and there’s also a dump station available on the property.

Snow Canyon may be obviously beautiful to look at… but what else is there to do inside the park?
Glad you asked! Here are just a few of the activities that keep Snow Canyon visitors busy.
Hiking - An intricate system of foot trails leads hikers to parts of the park inaccessible by other means, including the challenging Gila Trail, which measures nine miles one way. (Be sure to bring lots of water!)
Biking - Mountain biking is also popular along Snow Canyon State Park’s trails, as well as the paved roadways. If you bike Snow Canyon Drive from the south gate to the north, you’ll see over 1,000 feet in elevation gain over just four miles!
Horseback riding - Bring along your four-hooved friend for yet another way to get familiar with this unique southwestern Utah landscape.
Sand dunes - Take a gander at the stunning dunes that characterize this part of Utah… or get really wild and build a sandcastle!

Spring and fall are the best times to visit Snow Canyon State Park. The weather conditions during these times are fantastic for outdoor recreation. The park is also less overcrowded than in the summer months.
This park enjoys mild winter weather conditions and rarely receives snow. Summer temperatures can go up to 92 degrees Fahrenheit, while winter temperatures can go as low as 48 degrees Fahrenheit.
Coyotes, quails, leopard lizards, canyon tree frogs and gopher snakes are the main wildlife species inhabiting Snow Canyon State Park. Gila monsters, peregrine falcons and desert tortoises are also popular here.
You have to reserve a camping spot at this site. You can make your reservations up to four months in advance. The cost of reserving a spot is $10, and you may choose your spot when you reserve it.
With paved surfaces, steep slopes and soft sand, Snow Canyon State Park is accessible for disabled guests. It also has amenities like spacious, ADA-accessible bathrooms with running water, showers and clean, well-lit toilets.
