Located about 22 miles north of Wills Point, 55 miles northwest of Dallas, and 12 miles west of Emory, this 376-acre forested state park offers 5 miles of shoreline where you can fish, swim, or relax. Bring along your binoculars to this state park so that you can watch for birds and wildlife along the lake’s eastern shore. This park was first opened in 2002 under a lease agreement with the Sabine River Authority. It is a great place to go mountain biking.

Inside Lake Tawakoni State Park
A four-lane boat ramp makes it easy to launch a boat into 37,879-acre Lake Tawakoni, which has a maximum depth of 60 feet and is home to bass, crappie, and catfish. Upland regrowth forest and creek-bottom post-oak woodlands allow you to see a variety of wildlife, including foxes, coyotes, and armadillos. Mountain biking or hiking is a great way to explore the 5 miles of trails within this park. On a hot summer day, you can cool off with a swim in the lake.

How to Get to
Lake Tawakoni State Park
This park is easy to get to from Dallas by following U.S. 80. Take U.S. 80 East to Farm to Market Road 429 in Terrell. After turning left on Farm to Market Road 429, go about 15 miles and turn right on Farm to Market Road 751. Continue left on County Road 3837 and left on County Road 3810. Turn right on Queen City Road and left on FM 2475.
If you are in Greenville, then head south out of town on TX 34 South. In Quinlan, turn left onto TX 276 East. Turn right on Farm to Market Road 751 in about 12 miles. Go approximately 7 miles, turn left on County Road 3837, and then turn left on County Road 3810. Turn right on Queen City Road and left on FM 2475 to reach the park.
