Surrounded by the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Umpqua Lighthouse State Park is located less than a mile from Salmon Harbor on Winchester Bay. This small state park mainly consists of the campground, which provides easy access to sand dunes that can rise over 500 feet tall as well as paths to the lighthouse. The day-use area is the ideal place for a picnic. This park was first established around 1930 from land given to the state by Douglas County, Oregon, and it has seen its boundaries change many times. The drive to the park is very convenient as it is located about six miles southeast of Reedsport, Oregon; 19 miles north of North Bend, Oregon; and about 16 miles east of Scottsburg, Oregon.
