Milo McIver State Park sits along the scenic Clackamas River in northwest Oregon where the northern Willamette Valley meets the Cascade foothills. The park features the river, Estacada Lake on the northeast side, forests, and fields filled with recreational opportunities and gorgeous views. The Clackamas Fish Hatchery, which raises and releases more than a million Chinook salmon each year, is located at the park with self-guided tours available to visitors. Milo McIver State Park is named for a man of the same name who was a member of the Oregon Highway Commission and a strong supporter of state park activities. This park is located just 25 miles from Portland, with plenty of nearby entertainment and activities as well.

What to Do at
Milo McIver State Park
Visit Milo McIver State Park to enjoy boating, paddling, canoeing, and kayaking on the Clackamas River. Life jackets are available, as are paddleboat and kayak rentals. If land activities are more your style, try your hand at disc golf on the world-class 27-hole course. Rent or buy your discs at the park office. Equestrians love the park for the large horse arena, horse training stations, and six miles of adjacent riding trails. Take a trek over to the Milo McIver Memorial Viewpoint while visiting the park for a picturesque view of Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams off in the distance.

Inside Milo McIver State Park
If you're planning a celebration at the park, you can rent the picnic area for a party of up to 200 people. For a more solitary experience, fish from the pier, which is easily accessible regardless of your physical abilities. You can also rent a standup paddleboard or a kayak from the approved vendor at this state park. Fishing
Anglers at Milo McIver State Park set their sights on Chinook salmon and steelhead in the Clackamas River. Estacada Lake offers a chance at reeling in some fish as well and has a boat ramp and fishing dock for plenty of space to cast your line.

The Clackamas Geocaching Association has placed multiple caches within the park, with permission. Check out the official Geocache website or mobile app for clues and coordinates to help you find the prize.
Nature Watching
Sit back and watch the osprey and eagles prey on fish in the river. Identify the different songbirds in the area, with dozens of species living in or migrating through the park.
Flora and Fauna
The park features rolling grass meadows with maple and Douglas fir trees. Green grass, shrubs, and wildflowers provide ground cover between the trees. The park is home to dozens of songbird species, warblers, sparrows, and flycatchers. Osprey and eagles are also seen flying around. Black-tailed deer, coyotes, and many other woodland mammals inhabit the park and surrounding areas. Townsend's big-eared bat, a protected species in Oregon, also lives at Milo McIver State Park.
Hiking
Stroll across seven miles of meadows and wooded areas on the hiking trails that wind through the park. These trails are shared with horseback riders, so be on the lookout for four-legged walkers.
Boating
The Clackamas River has two boat ramps, and Estacada Lake has a single boat ramp and a kayak launch. Rafts, canoes, kayaks, and paddleboats are popular ways to get out and enjoy the river. A life jacket loaner station is located near the lake. Stand-up paddleboards and kayak rentals are offered by Clackamas River Outfitters at Estacada Lake. The group offers guided tours as well.
Biking
Guests are welcome to ride bicycles on all paved trails and roads in the park. For the safety of all guests, bikes are not allowed on unpaved trails and other areas.
How to Get to
Milo McIver State Park
From Portland, take Highway 212 east out of the city to Highway 224. This highway will take you south and east, meeting up with Highway 211. Follow the signs on Highway 211 to the park entrance, located on the northern end of Estacada.
Entering Milo McIver State Park
Parking is available in numerous areas throughout the park. There is a large parking area near both boat launches on the river, as well as the boat launch on the lake. There are also several parking spots available near picnic areas and trailheads.
A valid parking permit is required for day-use visitors at a cost of $5 per vehicle. This permit is available at the park's entrance booth or can be purchased online.

The warmer temperatures of late spring, summer, and early fall provide guests with the most comfortable climate to enjoy all the recreation at the park, including water sports. Hiking is also more comfortable during these warmer seasons.
