This park originated from lands purchased between 1962 and 1985, including the historical 1939 Coquille River Lighthouse. Among the park’s 1,289 acres, you’ll find 4.5 miles of hard-packed beach. A moderately cool climate is enjoyed throughout the year, with summer temperatures only reaching an average high of 68 degrees. While in the area, be sure to visit the nearby Bandon Marsh Wildlife Refuge.

Bullards Beach State Park

Bullards Beach State Park has more than 4 miles of ocean coastline, providing guests with several opportunities to enjoy water activities. Put your boat in the Coquille River and see the park from a new perspective. Camping is another popular activity year-round, with three large campground loops on-site. While visiting, don't forget to explore the park's scenic trails on foot or navigate the beach terrain on your mountain bike!

Inside Bullards Beach State Park

With 4.5 miles of beach to enjoy, as well as hiking and biking trails to explore, boat launch facilities, and fishing and crabbing opportunities on the Coquille River, there’s plenty of recreational activities at Bullards Beach State Park to keep you and your family entertained.

Swimming : The state park gives you access to the sprawling coastline, including Bullards Beach. The beach is also dog-friendly, however they must be on a leash at all times. There is a paved biking and walking path down to the beach from the campground.

Boating : The park’s boat launch facilities remain busy during the summer and fall seasons, as they are typically installed in late April and removed in late October. These boat launches give visitors access to the beach, as well as the Coquille River.

Hiking : There are a number ofhiking trails within the state park, including ones which take you to the beach, river, or historic sites such as the Coquille River Lighthouse. Most of these are classified as ‘easy’ trails, so they’re perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

Fishing and Crabbing : Bullards State Park is one of the top 5 fishing and crabbing destinations on the Oregon coast. Crabbing trips run regularly from July through to November and depart from the Bandon Port launch docks or Bullard’s State Park boat launch. There is also great King Salmon fishing opportunities in the area from July through to October.

Picnicking : The day use portion of Bullards Beach State Park is open to the public from dawn to dusk and provides picnicking opportunities, including sheltered tables. There is no fee to use these areas of the state park.

Fishing Fishing

Bullards Beach State Park is one of Oregon’s top five fishing and crabbing spots. In fact, guided crabbing trips are available from July through November. The boat launch makes it easy to go out on the water and spend a relaxing day fishing for Chinook and coho salmon.

One of the main attractions in Bullards Beach State Park is the sea lions that can be found soaking up the sun along the park’s shoreline. Bird-watchers will appreciate the area’s cormorants, brown pelicans, and gulls. On land, keep an eye out for rough-skinned newts, Western terrestrial garter snakes, and Douglas squirrels.

Bullards Beach State Park is home to several shore pines, which help protect the camping areas from the strong ocean breeze. While exploring the park, you will discover grassy fields, sandy dunes, and lowland forests across its 1,289 acres. Additional plants found in the park include twinberry honeysuckle, California sandaster, and Pacific madrone.

Bullards Beach State Park has 10 beach trails with fantastic ocean views. Many of these family-friendly trails are categorized as easy. The main trail to the beach is mostly paved for your convenience. The 2-mile North Loop Trail is the most difficult, but it is ideal for viewing marine wildlife.

Boating

The boat launch on the Coquille River at Bullards Beach State Park makes it easy to enjoy a relaxing day on the water or an exciting fishing adventure. Kayaking is also a popular activity on the river.

Biking

Bullards Beach State Park is unique because guests can ride bikes on the beach due to the compacted sand. The nearby city of Bandon has fat-tire bikes for rent that are perfect for taking on the beach. Guides are available to help you find the best areas for a smooth ride. It is possible to follow the coastline all the way from Seven Devils State Recreation Site to Boice Cape Park on a bike.

How to Get to
Bullards Beach State Park

From Bandon, head east on 2nd Street SE toward Grand Avenue SE. Take a slight left onto U.S. 101 North. Turn left onto Bullards Beach Road. In 1.4 miles, turn right to arrive at Bullards Beach State Park.

Entering Bullards Beach State Park

This park does not charge a day-use fee. Roads into the park are paved and wide enough to accommodate large vehicles. Two parking lots are available along the main road heading into the campground.
