Bass River State Park RV & Campground Guide

New Jersey

Bass River State Park

consists of 18,208 acres and is roughly 25 miles north of Atlantic City and just six miles west of Tuckerton. In 1905, the state of New Jersey purchased the forest for public recreation. Lake Absegami was created in the 1930s, and this 67-acre lake is the forest's centerpiece, offering many water entertaining activities. The area provides a spectacular canopy view of Atlantic white cedar, red maple, and magnolia. This unique ecosystem also maintains an extensive forest of oak and pine trees that heighten to 4 feet at maturity. The area also contains endangered plant species, broom crowberry, and many rare moth species.
