- Holland State Park
Holland State Park is a 142-acre park boasting soft sandy beaches, towering sand dunes, and prime views of Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa, as well as the iconic “Big Red” Lighthouse. Opened in 1926 on lands gifted from the city of Holland, the park has been a popular destination ever since. It is now one of Michigan’s most visited state parks, with millions of people visiting its shores each year.
Activities abound at Holland State Park. The park is situated across two bodies of water — Lake Michigan to the west and Lake Macatawa to the east — that are connected by the Holland Channel. Visitors can go swimming in both lakes, as well as fishing, boating, and paddling, or take a stroll along the shoreline, lounge on the beach, and snap pictures of the Big Red Lighthouse, which sits on the south side of the channel and dates back to 1872. Visitors can also hike up wooded dune trails and high bluffs for picturesque views of the beachfront and lighthouse.
If endless beachtime fun and gorgeous sunsets over Lake Michigan sound like your idea of a perfect vacation, then come to Holland State Park for your next getaway — you’ll love it here!
