Brimley State Park is on the shore of Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay, about 11 miles south of the town of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023. The park is a popular place to visit year-round. The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald lies offshore, 17 miles as the crow flies to the northwest. If you take a short drive up the coast from Brimley State Park, you can visit the memorial to the famous ship. If you are a history buff, you may also want to explore the Wheels Of History Train Museum in the nearby town of Brimley. Brimley State Park
Brimley State Park provides some of the warmest swimming areas on Lake Superior and has a large sandy beach. How to Get to
Brimley State Park
From the Lower Peninsula, take the Mackinac Bridge to St. Ignace and then proceed north on Route 75 until you reach the exit for Route 48. Take Route 48 west to Rudyard. Next, turn north on Mackinac Trail until you reach Route 28. Turn east on Route 28. Follow it a few hundred yards to the Sunoco station at the corner of Routes 28 and 221. Turn north on Route 221; the park will be on your right.
