Nestled in a rural area outside of Crystal Falls, this 315-acre park offers shade thanks to a mixed hardwood forest. The park sits at the shore of Fortune Lake and features historic architecture created by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. Find the log bathhouse, stone restrooms, water fountains, bridges, and fireplaces as you meander through the park. Paint River Hills Campground and Cabins
Paint River Hills Campground and Cabins is one of the many great camping options you have to select from near Bewabic State Park. This spot is located in the downtown district of Crystal Falls on an ample 24 acres. Constructed in 2003, the campground offers a unique hiking trail that runs along the river as well as a variety of other amenities. People love to go tubing and swimming here. Klint Safford Memorial RV Park
Klint Safford Memorial RV Park is located in downtown Iron River, which is 10 miles west of the state park, on the grounds of the Iron County Chamber of Commerce. This location is ideal as it is within walking distance from a variety of shopping destinations and restaurants. The campground charges a nightly rate of $28 for sites with full hookups. Bewabic State Park
Land or lake, sun or shade, Bewabic State Park has something for everyone. Bring your metal detector and find treasures beneath the surface, pack your swimming gear for a day at the beach, or take an easy hike through the rolling landscape of the park. If you are feeling more active, there are horseshoe pits and a tennis court as well as two playgrounds for the little ones. Boating and fishing are also popular in the area, with a public boat launch located in the park. Visiting in the winter? Bring your snowshoes or skis for a snowy adventure.

Bewabic State Park offers amenities to cater to practically anyone; whether you prefer activities on the water or land, you're sure to find something to occupy your time. Activities on the water include fishing, swimming, and boating. The state park’s boat launch is especially popular among visitors. If you are looking to stay dry, you can take advantage of tennis courts and picnicking facilities, or try metal detecting, a popular hobby in the region. There is even a playground to keep the young ones entertained during your journey.

Fishing is popular at Bewabic State Park, whether you're casting a line from the shore or a boat. You'll likely find perch, bass, bluegill, and walleye in the lake and hopefully attached to the end of your pole!

Stargazing
The area is rural and away from city lights, but is also heavily shaded with trees. Your best bet for seeing the open sky at night is near the beach and along the shores of Fortune Lake.
Flora and Fauna
Bewabic State Park is a forest of maple, oak, birch, beech, and aspen hardwood trees. Ground cover consists of native grass, shrubs, and wildflowers. Running around amongst the trees you may spot deer, red foxes, porcupines, and garter snakes. Swimming alongside the fish in the lake are snapping turtles. Look up for bluebirds and listen closely to hear the woodpeckers.
Hiking
You can access the 2-mile Bewabic Nature Trail from the campground and the day-use area and explore all the nature the park has to offer.
Boating
If you bring your boat, you're in luck! There is a public boat launch in the park to get your boat into Fortune Lake. In addition, you can rent kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards from the park office to get out and explore the lake.
Swimming
A designated beach is located on the shore of the lake. There is a beach house with restrooms near the beach.
How to Get to
Bewabic State Park
Navigating to Bewabic State Park is simple. Head east on Highway 2 from Iron River, or head west on Highway 2 from Crystal Falls. The park entrance is on the south side of the highway.
Entering Bewabic State Park
There is public parking in the park near the tennis courts and boat launch. There is also limited extra parking in the campground for camping guests. There is no fee to enter Bewabic State Park, but you must have a recreational passport for all motorized vehicles in the park.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bewabic State Park
The best time of year to visit the park depends on your recreational purposes. Late spring to early fall is a perfect time to enjoy the trails, beach, and lake. Early fall is also a time to gaze at the spectacular colors of changing leaves. In the winter, you can ski and snowshoe through the snow.
During your visit, you'll likely see deer, foxes, porcupines, garter snakes, frogs, and snapping turtles. Bluebirds and woodpeckers also call Bewabic State Park home, as does the aquatic life in the lake.
There are 137 RV camping spots in the campground. These sites have electrical hookups (amps vary), picnic tables, and fire pits. Firewood is available for sale at the park office. Most of these camping sites are wooded and shaded by trees and have a bumper strip of greenery to provide privacy.
You do not need to reserve a spot ahead of your stay, though it is highly recommended to ensure you have a spot available when you arrive. RV campsites are available for $22 per night.
Pets must be supervised and kept under control at all times. They must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and are not allowed at the swimming beach.
