- General Butler State Park
General Butler is northern Kentucky’s first state park. It began as a 300-acre tract that was part of the old William O. Butler family farm, so it’s both a place of natural beauty and outdoor activities, and also a historic site. It’s the only spot in Kentucky that has a view of the convergence of the Kentucky and Ohio Rivers. The Butlers, for whom the park is named, were one of Kentucky’s great historic families. Butlers were soldiers in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Mexican Wars, among others. They served as congressmen, and one ran for governor. The park preserves the old Butler family home built in 1859, which is open for tours.
Weather at the park is somewhat rainy, with the park getting about a week of rain each month of the year. Spring is the rainiest season. It does get cold in winter - lows are around 23F. Summers don’t get too hot, and the average high isn’t even in the 90s. However, Kentucky can get quite humid.
Spring 57-76 F
Summer 61-87 F
Fall 36-80 F
Winter 23-48 F
