Summit Lake State Park is a public recreation area frequented by visitors throughout east-central Indiana. Located near New Castle, this park boasts a massive total land area of 2,680 acres and includes an 800-acre lake that can be used for waterfront activities. The terrain is made up of a combination of wetlands, old fields, prairie restoration areas, and woodlands. It was established as an official state park in 1988 and is currently governed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. How to Get to
Summit Lake State Park
Cincinnati and Indianapolis are two of the closest major U.S. cities to Summit Lake State Park. Coming from Cincinnati, take I-74 and US-52 W to Main Street in Brookville. Next, follow IN-1 N to US-35 N in Dalton Township. Now, take US-35 N and US-36 W to N Messick Road in Blue River Township. You will arrive once you turn right onto N Messick Road.
Coming from Indianapolis, you will first get onto I-65 S from N Meridian Street. Now, follow I-70 E to IN-3 N in Spiceland Township. Take Exit 123 from I-70 E. After continuing on IN-3 N, drive to N Messick Road in Stoney Creek Township to complete the route.
