Potato Creek State Park in north-central Indiana is about 12 miles from South Bend. The park has a variety of outdoor activities visitors can enjoy year-round! The 327-acre Worster Lake is a great spot for boating, fishing, and swimming. There are trails through the park, where hikers can walk through old fields, woodlands, prairies, and wetlands.

There are a number of things to do at Potato Creek State Park.
Hiking: From easy trails through fields and woods to moderate and more rugged trails, you’re sure to find one that suits your abilities. Hiking trails in the park head through woods, into wetlands, or along overlooks that provide a great view of Worster Lake. During spring, you may see wildflowers peeking up in fields while you walk.
Bicycling: There is a beginner and a moderate bike trail in the park. The moderate trail begins at the boat rental area, winds through wooded hills and above the creek bed, then onto flat land that passes through wetlands and forests. Bike rentals are available.
Boating: There are two boat launch ramps. Boating is allowed for electric trolling motors, or for kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and other non-motorized boats. Boat rentals are available.
Fishing: Fishing is allowed on the lake, and there is a fishing pier. A fish cleaning station is also available for you to clean your catch.
Winter activities: Cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and tubing (there’s a tubing hill) are all popular winter activities at the park.
Swimming: There is a swim beach at the park.

Potato Creek State Park
From South Bend: Take US-31 S. Exit toward IN-4/Pierce Rd. Turn right onto IN-4/Pierce Rd. The park will be on the right.
