The Green River State Park is spread on an area of 2,565 acres. This state park offers great wildlife exploration adventures as well as a dump station, hiking trails, and RV campsites. Approximately one-third of this state park is covered in swampy slough areas, and the rest is covered in open fields and cultivated areas. The local government manages this area to offer more cover and food for local wildlife. This park is located near the Illinois communities of Dixon, Amboy, and Ashton.

East Woods RV Park and Campground is located on the banks of the Illinois River in East Ottawa. About an acre of this campground is covered in a shallow pond, and this is why this campground is also known as the Rainbow Pond campground. The pond attracts different animals, including deer, doves, rabbits, and quails. The campground is away from any noises or pollution of the city, offering a serene environment for visitors. It will cost you $40 for an overnight stay in this park.

How to Get to
Green River State Park
If you are traveling from Chicago, you will need to get on I-88. Follow this for approximately two hours and watch for signs to the park.
If you are traveling from Peoria, you will need to take IL-29 out of the city. It will take you approximately an hour and a half to reach the park.
If you are traveling from Iowa City, you can take I-80 and then get on the IL-29. You will reach the park in less than two hours.
Entering Green River State Park
The park is open year-round and free for everyone. Groups of 25 or more are required to register with the park in advance to avoid overcrowding.
