Skidaway Island State Park offers visitors a balance between busy urban life and the joy found in nature. The 588-acre park is sandwiched between the heavily populated area of Savannah, GA, and the Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge. The park offers spacious RV camping sites and a quiet environment not often found close to urban areas. A boat ramp located only one-quarter mile from the park gives campers excellent access to saltwater and freshwater fishing. Though Skidaway Island is surrounded by water, the closest beach access is at Tybee Island Beach, 25 miles away. Skidaway Island State Park is a favorite getaway for Savannah, Atlanta, and Charleston residents, the latter of which is only a 125-mile trip away.

Skidaway Island State Park Campground
The Skidaway Island State Park Campground offers 87 campsites. The park provides flush toilets, showers, fire rings, and picnic tables. The campground is home to hiking and biking trails and an impressive array of wildlife that visit campsites daily. The campsites are spacious and accept RVs and trailers up to 65 feet long. Most of the RV campsites are covered by large oaks decked with Spanish moss.

Fort McAllister State Park
Fort McAllister State Park is located on Interstate 95 (I-95) just south of Savannah. The park has a total of 67 campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs. Fort McAllister State Park sits alongside the picturesque Ogeechee River. The park features the best-preserved earthwork fort of the Confederacy era. Trails wind through the fort and along the beaches that surround it. Kayaking, boating, fishing, hiking, and biking are among the favorite activities of visitors.

River’s End Campground and RV Park
River’s End Campground and RV Park is the only RV campground on Tybee Island. The campground is located only 16 miles from Savannah and has immediate access to the famous Tybee Island beaches. The RV park offers RV campers 72 sites for RVs of various sizes. Each site provides full hookups for RVs and trailers. The Tybee Island beaches are known as some of the finest in the country.

Skidaway Island State Park houses some of the most exotic of birds found along the Atlantic Coast. The park provides trails that wander through coastal marshes and among overhanging trees. Campers find the environment inside the park to be restful. The sites are wide enough to allow you to spread out. Educational tours are available throughout the year.
How to Get to
Skidaway Island State Park
When traveling from the north on I-95 South, take Exit 94 (GA 204) east in Savannah's direction. Turn right onto Truman Parkway. Continue until you reach the Whitefield Avenue Exit. Turn right onto Whitefield Avenue, and drive until you reach State Park Road. Turn left, and the park office will be a half-mile ahead on the right.
When traveling from the south on I-95 North, take Exit 99A (I-16 East). Take Exit 164A (I 516/ Lynes Parkway) off of I-16 East and take Derenne Avenue to the Truman Parkway Exit. Drive Truman Parkway until you reach the Whitefield Avenue Exit. Turn left onto Whitefield Avenue then left onto State Park Road. The Park office will be a half-mile ahead on the right.
Entering Skidaway Island State Park
As with all state parks in Georgia, vehicle entry requires a Georgia ParkPass. The ParkPass fees are based on vehicle type and the number of passengers. You can get a single-day ParkPass or a yearly ParkPass. ParkPass fees are:
