Magnolia Springs State Parkis spread out over 1,000 acres between the Georgia towns of Perkins and Millen. It's built around a natural spring that flows with roughly 7 million gallons of crystal-clear water every day. While the park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and opened in 1939, the area was home to a prison during the Civil War. Today, the park still houses remnants of Camp Lawton, which housed over 10,000 prisoners. The most popular activities at Magnolia Springs are water sports along with hiking and biking the on-site trails.

Inside Magnolia Springs State Park
This park's most noteworthy feature is its springs, which attract wildlife like turtles and alligators; you can see everything up close on the boardwalk. Fishing enthusiasts will also have access to a small lake. Cyclists have a chance to enjoy a three-mile bike loop. Geocaching, hiking, and paddling are also popular pastimes. At the Camp Lawton Museum, you can check out archaeological artifacts discovered during the 2010 dig.

Magnolia Springs State Park is in between the towns of Perkins and Millen. From Perkins, travel south on U.S. Highway 25. You'll then turn left on to Magnolia Springs Road to get to the park. When traveling from Millen, go north on U.S. Highway 25. You'll turn right on Magnolia Springs Road to reach the park.
