Inside Tomoka State Park
Tomoka State Park is all about the wilderness. The best way to see it is from the river itself; you can launch a canoe, kayak, or motorboat from the park’s boat ramp and explore for hours. The Tomoka Outpost store in the park offers boat rentals, so you don’t need to worry about lugging your own. Bring your tackle box and cast off for the 90 different types of fish that live in the river; red drum and spotted sea trout are two common varieties. If you prefer to explore on land, walk the short, easy interpretive trail as it travels through a site that was once home to Nocoroco, an ancient Timucuan Indian village.
