This was once the home of the Koreshans, a religious group that created their own colony in Estero, Florida. If you’re looking for room to spread out, head straight for the Woodsmoke Camping Resort, which lies just three miles north of the park. Set on a 30-acre parcel of land that includes two lakes and plenty of trees, this is a place you’ll look forward to returning to each evening. Take a swim in the large pool, fish in the lakes, or get in a workout at the fitness center. With a dog walk, boardwalk and playground, your whole group will find plenty to do. Post about your trip using the free Wi-Fi network or do some washing in the laundry room. With full-hookup, pull-through sites that accommodate RVs up to 80 feet long, this park welcomes all types of RVs. Rates start at $59 per night.
Calusa Cove RV Park
Known for its relaxing vibe and beautiful shaded sites, Calusa Cove RV Park is perfect if you’re looking for peace and quiet. Every site is spacious and equipped with full hookups. Spaces are scattered throughout the cypress and live oak forest, with a handy fishing lake nearby. Nightly rates start at $50 for 30-amp service and $55 for 50-amp service.

The centerpiece of Koreshan State Park is the historic site. While you’re there, take a tour of the buildings and spend time wandering through the beautiful grounds. Nearby, there’s a picnic area next to the river with grills and a playground. If you’re feeling up for an adventure, bring a kayak or a canoe and launch from the park’s boat ramp; if you paddle three miles to the west, you’ll reach the lovely Estero Bay. A short hiking trail runs next to the water, and another trail, which is popular among runners, winds through a pine forest.

Koreshan State Park
Koreshan State Park sits just west of Highway 41. Take 41 south from Fort Myers or north from Naples. You can also access it from I-75, which runs parallel a few miles east.
