- Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park
The Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park is an example of a successful conversion from “swords to plowshares.” The park formerly knew the bombs and bullets of war as a WWII bombing and strafing range. Today, the park is an area of peaceful contemplation. Whether you are walking the miles of trails or kayaking in the bayou, the tranquility of this park infects you. Located near Niceville and Valparaiso, FL, on the coast of the Florida panhandle, this park offers a variety of environments. The long beach, a freshwater lake, and hiking trails beneath red cedar trees greet visitors.
