San Onofre State Beach offers amazing surfing and beautiful bluffs, and the tidal wetlands are stupendous in this unspoiled, rugged wonderland. It is located in the North Coastal region of San Diego, California, just north of Agra and south of San Clemente. San Onofre Beach Camp Pendleton
San Onofre Beach Camp Pendleton is located just a few hundred meters from San Onofre Beach. It features a serene oceanfront camping setting with RV spaces and cottages for rent. It also offers guests the ability to rent surfboards and paddleboards. Rates start at just $35 per night for an RV campsite with water hookups.
San Onofre Beach Camp Pendleton features sites with and without electric hookups. All sites have water and sewer hookups. There is Wi-Fi, and it is a pet-friendly campground with some breed restrictions. It also features recreational equipment rentals for football and volleyball.
Paradise by the Sea RV Resort
Paradise by the Sea RV Resort is located just southeast of San Onofre State Beach in Oceanside. It is near Buccaneer Beach and the historic California Highway 101. It offers full hookups, cable television, free Wi-Fi and pristine cleanliness. It's very close to the West Coast's longest wooden pier. Rates start at $52 for a premium back-in site that faces south.
There are 91 sites at Paradise by the Sea RV Resort, and the campground is home to spectacular amenities such as restrooms, laundry facilities, a grocery and RV supplies store, a recreation room, a nearby beach, a pool and a hot tub.

San Onofre State Beach offers plenty of fun for swimmers, surfers, sunbathers, campers, fishermen, bicyclists, and kayakers. Over 2.5 million people a year visit San Onofre. You can see sea lions, whales and dolphins as you take in the magnificent scenery.
San Onofre features world-class surfing at Surf Beach. The beach is only for use during the day and does not allow camping. It does, however, offer fire pits. There are surf breaks that beginners can surf on and also areas like Trestles Beach that have some of the best waves in the United States. Surf Beach has three breaks called Old Man's, Dogpatch and The Point. They perform optimally on a south swell. It is difficult to walk into the water in this area because it is completely covered by a rock reef.
Trails is an area that is farthest to the south. It has a rocky bottom and sandy surf breaks. This is the last point you can camp at the scenic San Onofre. It's rustic with cold showers on the bluffs and flush pits close by.
How to Get to
San Onofre State Beach
From San Diego, drive north on Interstate 5 and look for the park several miles before San Clemente on the left side of the interstate on the ocean. Coming from the north, drive south on I-5 and go past San Clemente. San Onofre will be on your right-hand side about 3 miles after San Clemente.
By Car
Entering San Onofre State Beach
Surf Beach is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from April 15 through September 31. From October 1 through April 14, it is open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Bluffs/Trails is open from 6:00 a.m. to sunset. San Mateo Campground is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The campsites at San Mateo Campground are the only ones that have electricity, water, picnic tables, and grills. In addition, there is an RV dump station at the San Onofre Bluffs campground.
Pets are allowed at San Onofre State Beach Park. However, for their safety and the safety of others, pets are not permitted on the beach. Pets may join excursions on the trials and at campsites provided they are on a leash no longer than six feet, monitored, cleaned up after, and well-behaved.
The beach park is handicap-accessible with ramps, parking spaces, and trail access. Accessible restrooms and showers are available. A beach wheelchair is free to use and available at the lifeguard station.
