The park offers 20 miles of gravel nature trails surrounded by the famed redwoods. While you're there, you will enjoy cooler temperatures, with an average high of 68 in July and August and a high of up to 55 throughout the rest of the year. 

Located approximately 5 miles from Crescent City and inland from the coast, the park is named after the explorer Jedediah Strong Smith, who discovered the area on a two-year trapping expedition in 1826. Here, park visitors get to see a wide range of majestic trees, including old-growth trees, shrubs, bushes, flowers, and a variety of mosses. When packing and planning for your trip to Jedediah, be sure to bring warm layers suitable for wet conditions as the park does get a lot of precipitation in addition to its cooler year-round temperatures.

While staying there, you can enjoy the Smith River, the Stout Grove, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, and Redwood National Park. RV rates range from $45 to $53 per night with discounts for extended stays, veterans, and seniors.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is located just off U.S. 101 S if you are traveling from the north. If you are traveling from the south, it is off U.S. 101 N.

Entering Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park

The park entrance is off U.S. 199 and Elk Valley Cross Road, less than a mile from U.S. 101 S. Entrance is free if you're camping inside the park. It costs $7 for hike and bike visits if you're camping outside of the park.
