Hendy Woods State Park RV & Campground Guide

California

Located in the Anderson Valley wine region about three hours north of downtown San Francisco, Hendy Woods State Park contains some of the tallest redwood trees in California. This state park was named after Joshua Hendy, who was one of the first owners of the property. It became a state park in 1958 to protect two groves of redwood trees located here, and it currently contains some trees standing over 300 feet tall and maybe more than 1,000 years old. The park, which is located near Philo and Boonville, is a favorite among kayakers and canoers who use it as a public docking spot on the Navarro River. While many enjoy coming to this state park because of its magnificent hiking trails, others visit it while enjoying the many wineries surrounding the area, which features mild seasonal temperatures throughout the year.
